Thetford Rovers Euston Park

Club Statement 24th November 2021

Thetford Rovers FC

Thetford Rovers Football Club can confirm several members of the first team squad have tested positive for Covid-19.

The health and safety of everyone at the club remains our paramount concern and those players affected are now isolating and we wish them a quick and safe recovery.

The Anglian Combination and our Opponents for Saturday’s Game Aylsham FC had been notified earlier this morning following the positive PCR results for all concerned.

We asked if they were willing to postpone the fixture with the option of an alternative date being arranged. In response to this request it is the away teams decision not to postpone the game.

The Club feel that we have now been forced to field a team with remaining members at the risk of the spread of Covid-19.

We have informed last week’s opponents Long Stratton of the situation so they can advise players and families that they may be at risk.

This is the clubs second Covid-19 out-break and earlier in the season we were forced to postpone a game with Watton Football Club who like us morally thought it was right to do so.

Todays events will see league positions and the chance of getting one over on opponents who are in the chasing pack take preference.

WE WOULD AS A CLUB LIKE IT PUT ON RECORD THAT WE HOPE NO SERIOUS CONSEQUENCES COME OF THIS DECISION.

STAY SAFE EVERYONE
